March Madness is in full swing here at Elfster and we thought we’d share a few of these inspiring ideas for an exchange… Do you see your group here?
Some folks are still being good about keeping those New Year’s resolutions to watch what they eat by joining in a monthly “Weight Watchers Snack Swap” exchange. With a spending limit of $10 for a bunch of healthy snacks, it’s a great way for this group to “spread the love.” But, of course, there are plenty of opportunities to indulge, too, like a group of co-workers who are doing something sweet for each other with a candy exchange for just a few dollars each.
Spring sports are in full swing and the Wesleyan University women’s lacrosse team is using Elfster for its “Secret Psych” to build team morale. According to the exchange organizer, participants “don’t need to go buy anything! Just a note or candy or something to pump a teammate up!”
With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, there are plenty of exchanges for secret and sassy leprechauns with wishlists of green, including socks and underthings! And not only are these lucky leprechauns busy, but a secret “2nd Birthday Fairy” exchange is in the works as well. Happy Birthday to you, March babies!
To celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim this month, a group will be hosting a “Mishloach Manot” exchange. Traditionally, these Purim baskets are gifts of food or drink that are sent to friends, relatives, neighbors, teachers, business associates, and any other acquaintances on Purim day. The mitzvah of giving mishloach manot is meant to ensure that everyone has enough food for the Purim feast held later in the day, and to increase love and friendship.
Plenty of busy bunnies are already gathering gear for their Easter exchanges, but one group has quite a different take on the simple basket. The “You’ve Been Egged” exchange takes the “secret” exchange to a new level. According to the rules of this exchange, “this is a DING DONG DITCH type of event, have fun with it! You will have 1 week to shop and 1 week to drop off. You will be provided with a person’s name and address, this will be the person you will EGG! Put together a basket/bag of goodies (price does not matter, it’s the thought that counts!), leave it on their porch during the drop off dates. Ring the bell or knock and RUN!”
Spring is in the air, so why not celebrate! Lots of elves are getting ready with great gift ideas in fun, fresh colors and we say bring it on! The Elves at Elfster would love to hear how your group is using the site, too. You can visit us on Facebook or tweet us @elfster.
