he wants… salvation with toast
Wednesday, February 6th, 2008
Bring up the topic of commitment and babies at Valentine’s Day breakfast and wait for that silent panic. Then serve him his Please Help Me Toasts ($3). Maybe he’ll appreciate the ‘laugh with you’ humor?
Then bring up the topic of commitment and babies again.
what he wants… danger, always
Wednesday, February 6th, 2008
A memoir that is more of a guide to many lost pastime arts, like how to tan a skin or palm a coin or learn the Latin phrases that every boy should know. Or a collection of wisdom about useless skills such as how to write in invisible ink – along with useful skills, like how a boy can prepare himself for his inevitable encounters with girls.

Year of the Rat Postage Stamps
Tuesday, January 29th, 2008
Okay, does this make you want to send a Lunar New Year gift or what?
If you know an stamp collector, you must get this for them! Imagine their surprise! I think these are fantastic.
For some odd reason, I’ve become a big fan of fancy stamps recently. I’m not sure why, since I rarely ever responded to past designs (you know the ones I’m thinking of… the ones of Elvis or ice figure skating or the single red rose.) (Remember those???). I recently ordered myself several sets of the Marvel Super Heroes Stamps , and I love using them. Now, I’m ordering the Year of the Rat Postage Stamps for myself, friends and family. Either I’ve become boring or the stamp designs got really good. (Do I really want to know that answer?).
This set of Lunar New Year Postage Stamps consists of twelve 41 cent stamps for $5.99.
lotus bamboo
Monday, January 28th, 2008
The lotus bamboo is a nice unexpected change to the more common lucky bamboo in the market. Although appropriate for Chinese New Year, bamboo can be given any time of the year as a token for luck. This Lotus Bamboo is available in a red or black vase for $38 at RedEnvelope.
the money tree
Monday, January 28th, 2008
According to legend, a poor Taiwanese farmer became a wealthy merchant after discovering the money tree. I love this story, though I have a feeling it probably got its name because it is a houseplant that is almost impossible to kill, which is very important for good Feng Shui practice. The fact they originated from Central and South America kinda gives it away, doesn’t it?
My love for this item is a bit biased. It was one of the products I developed when I was at RedEnvelope. The design for the cachepot was inspired by an antique vase from the Ming dynasty. Four years later, I am still proud of the outcome. This money tree is available from RedEnvelope for $38.
For those who missed sending their corporate gifts to clients during the Holidays, I highly recommend using Lunar New Year as the second opportunity. The money tree makes a perfect business gift. What better message to wish a business than wealth and prosperity?

The money tree is also available in
a bamboo vessel for $38.
