This clever product is a good example of what I call a thinking man's design - when a person recognizes improvement needs, thinks often about the different possible solutions, then succeeds in repurposing the object by adding very simple changes.
The Love Mattress is basically a redesign of the ordinary mattress with added improvements to accommodate some of the less-than-natural body positions individuals go through as couples in bed. For example, the act of cuddling is great, but it will often result in very uncomfortable or awkward arm placements. The added slits in this mattress create pockets where arms can naturally fall into and stay comfortably for extended amounts of time.
