June is an exciting month, well known for beautiful weather, wonderful weddings , and graduation ceremonies for millions of students. For these graduates, they not only start their summer, but the next stage in their lives. Now is the time that you want to let them know how proud of them you are, and how excited you are to see what their futures will bring. Elfster was curious to know what graduates really wanted this year, so we enlisted the help of an expert!
Vanessa Gabriel is a 19-year-old entrepreneur, full time student at University of the Pacific, friend, sister, and book-lover. After her freshman year of college, she started a website called aSociete.com (pronounced ‘a society’) exclusively for college students offering discounts on top fashion brands up to 80% off retail prices. Based on her love of fashion, saving money, and knowing what college students are really interested in, we thought her opinions could help us all decide how to approach our graduation gift giving.
Her knowledge gave us fantastic insight: grads will always appreciate gifts that can make their life easier. After taking an informal poll among her friends, surprising no one, Vanessa confirmed that the number one wish is for money. However, she also adds “I think practical gifts are awesome as well, like a gym membership, a prepaid flight home for whenever they want, work/job attire, and furniture/housewares. Moving onto the next big chapter in your life after college can be daunting, but if a grad feels ready and prepared I think it could help them transition better.”
Here are a few of our favorite gift suggestions:
In Style: Style 101. This timeless, fun, step-by-step book covers fashion, beauty, entertaining and more.
