Wish Fulfillment, The Blog

Monday Morning, Ask Elfster!

Hi, it’s Peter here, the founder and head elf here at Elfster.  Today we are kicking off a new series, Ask Elfster!

Each Monday we will feature some great questions we’ve heard and share with you answers, tips, tricks, and ideas. Here is a message received last week:

Melissa asked:

“We want to use this site year after year, is there a way that the program will make sure we don’t get the same person we got the previous year- or year before that? (without me trying to remember and checking off the “do not pick list”)..? So once we have all picked each other once, then it will start over again. Does this make sense? “

What’s the good news?

Each year, Elfster automatically makes sure that you don’t draw the same person you drew the year before.  You don’t have to make any special changes in the set up to do that.  Lots of people feel that way so we just make it automatic.

What’s your question?

Do you have a question, suggestion, thought, or feedback for Elfster?  Send me a message and I’ll answer it on Ask Elfster!

Elfster is a wonderful idea. This is the first year that we are using it and is making Christmas shopping less stressful! Who ever came up with this idea is a genius! Thank you so much for making this Christmas alot more fun!!!

    Hi Kristen,

We are so glad you are enjoying Elfster. We have tried to think of all the challenges you might face when gifting especially in a secret way, but we know that we can always do better. Please let us know if you have any suggestions and have a great Thanksgiving!!

How could someone "hack" into one of my Elfster groups? I have just sent an email to HELP but it is pretty strange that someone got into my group who I did not invite & was not invited by others & has responded cryptically to emails asking her who she is etc & this morning all the info in her profile is gone. She has messed up an exchange but luckily we stopped the person who drew her name from sending her gift so we can gift it to the person she was supposed to get a gift for. But we are concerned about personal info she may have gotten about the participants in our group – names, addresses, email info, where we live, etc. How could this have happened?
